Fianna Fáil T.D for Dublin North West, and Vice Chair of the Oireachtas Housing Committee, Paul McAuliffe, has welcomed the publication of the interim report on homelessness.
The report follows a number of reports in the media and elsewhere surrounding an increase in deaths relating to people experiencing homelessness throughout 2020, The Committee decided to hold a meeting to examine these issues and related matters.
"I would like to thank all the bodies who came in to speak to us about Homelessness, in particular Dr.Austin O'Carroll and the DRHE for commissioning a report which is an important appendix to our report
. I would also like to thank Ms Una Burns from NOVAS, Professor Eoin O’ Sullivan from Trinity College Dublin, and Ms Alice Leahy of the Alice Leahy Trust who presented to the Committee, providing an important insight from the front line.
The national housing strategy has shifted considerably during the tenure of the new Government, led by Minister Darragh O'Brien and the findings of this report will feed into this. Concluded McAuliffe"
